Myself - in the year 2000!

resignationMy resignation:
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen... Enter the struggle which I share with so many others in the Church ...!

LoveMy favourite theme:
Get to know what makes me tick...!

I am John Wijngaards, a priest, theologian and writer.

I worked as a missionary in India, and it was during that time (1975) that, almost by accident, I first discovered the Church’s need to reassess its attitude to the ordination of women.

The authorities in Rome kept increasing their claims against women priests, imposing their opinion on theologians with ever higher sanctions. In 1998 I resigned from the active priestly ministry on account of my conflict of conscience.

life story My life story:
Meet the protagonist, the drama, the plot... Read this at your own risk!

publicationsMy publications:
Rummage on the shelf of what I have produced. Theology, sacred scripture, spirituality, fiction, film stories... Where will I land up next?

Feel free to drop me a line.

Winner of the Marga Klompé Award 2005 in recognition of his work for renewal of the ministry in the Roman Catholic Church, in particular for his academic campaign in support of opening the ordained ministries to women
