Braschi, who had been excommunicated in the 70's, was not the first choice, even though Forster told the journalists how happy she was "to have found Mgr. Braschi after a three years' search". The women were looking for a quite different bishop, a truly Roman Catholic one. And until the MS Passau lifted anchor in the three-river town (Passau) at 9.00 am, the women still firmly believed that he would turn up. The evening before, he had still assured them he would be there, punctually. Dujan Spiner, a bishop who had been ordained in the Czechoslovakian underground Church in the 70's by Bishop Felix Maria Davidek, did not arrive at the Donau. He was not there. Frantically the women tried to reach him on their mobile -- but in vain! It had been switched off.

The ship was full. The event could not be stopped, according to what a participant in the ordination happening told VOLKSBLATT. It should have been clear to the women that "they had been let down".

At the press conference after the event, the panic was not mentioned. It left its trace, however, in an announcement to the amazed journalists that the newly created 'women priests' would have themselves ordained again, a few days later, sub conditione (conditionally). This was, said Forster, to make sure, in case someone would doubt the first ordination of Saturday on formal grounds. The real reason for the absurd second ordination was not mentioned.

The women hope that Bishop Spiner will re-appear. He had already secretly ordained them deacons on Palm Sunday in the Scharnsteiner home of the Mayr-Lumetzbergers.
